September 2011:

Oraeps have been contracted by Ausenco to provide HSE & Community Management for the Tonkolili 1B project in Sierra Leone. Heath Thorpe is working in the Ausenco Head Office in Perth with pre-mobilisation and will be mobilising to site as the HSE & Community Manager in October.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the rapidly expanding iron ore developments in Western Africa. The 1B project is the construction management of an iron ore hematite processing plant and and key objectives include:

  • Manage and supervise the implementation and maintenance of onsite health, safety and environmental management systems across the Tonkolili Phase 1B project
  • Ensure highest level of HSE performance of contractors and Ausenco personnel during the project
  • Design, develop and implement community liaison, engagement, involvement and upliftment to mutual benefit
  • Management of project Crisis & Emergency response plans for Ausenco and contractors


August 2011:

Heath Thorpe spoke at the annual NOSA HSE Conference – NOSHCON. The title of the talk was "Preventing Fatalities and High Potential Severity Incidents: The Failure of Major Hazard Standards (MHS) and the Evolution of High Risk Control Audit Protocols HRCAuditP"


July 2011:

Oraeps was contracted by Sustainability to provide RABQSA lead auditor training to the Western Australia Department of Mines and Petroleum inspectors. Courses were held in Perth, Bunbury and Kalgoorlie.

Oraeps ssisted Sustainability on the Xstrata Core Hazard Audit for the Koniambo Nickel Project in New Caledonia.


April 2011:

Oraeps have been contracted by Leighton LLC to assist in establishing the environmental department and associated management and monitoring systems for the Khushuut Coal Project in Mongolia.

March 2011:

NOSA have entered into an agreement with Oraeps and have adopted the Oraeps’ Risk based, modular, OHSAS 18001, AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001 compliant contractor audit protocol and strategy as the new NOSA Contractor Audit Protocol (CMS001).

March 2011:

Oraeps completed the baseline OHS compliance and AS/NZS 4801 gap analysis audits across all the McAleese group of company sites in Australia in March 2011, with every site achieving certification. This is an outstanding achievement for McAleese Transport, Walter Wright Cranes and the remainder of the other companies involved – congratulations. In 2011 the McAleese Transport group of companies are progressing towards OHSAS 18001 / AS/NZS 4801 certification whilst maintaining a risk based OHS audit certification.
